SUPER POWERED PARENTING TIPS

FOCUS ON THE POSITIVE

  • Praise works better than fear and intimidation.
  • Praise your child for the things that you notice seem to be working. For example:

  1. “You did a great job making your bed this morning”.
  2. “So happy you got yourself dressed for the day”.
  3. “Thank you so much for keeping your hands to yourself.”
  4. “Thank you so much for helping with the dishes.”
  5. “So happy you picked up your toys.”

  • Anything that you can find to praise about your child can jump start your mind and their mind  on the positive.
  • Ignore the negative and focus on the positive. This helps you grow a more positive relationship with that child. Ignore the negative and it will soon begin to disappear--feed the positive and you will get more of it.
  • What you focus on grows!

CELEBRATE SUCCESS - FOR SELF AND OTHERS

As an adult It is healthy to be excited and enthusiastic about your own achievements or personal progress. Be sure to share your successes with those you love. Let your children celebrate with you. This gives your child permission to celebrate their accomplishments. It teaches children that it’s okay to extend praise and gratitude and celebrate with others. It also allows them to be celebrated as well. This builds healthy self-esteem. Praise and positivity towards self helps build a sense of capability and a feeling of competence.
